A confrontation over a golf cart repair escalated into violence in southwest Miami-Dade, landing two men behind bars on serious charges. According to Local 10 News, the incident took place on January 8, when an argument over golf cart parts at 61-year-old Carlos Manuel Pedroso's property spiraled into a shooting and assault.
The dispute, as reported, began around 9 p.m. when the victim arrived to drop off parts for repair. Authorities have stated that during the argument, Pedroso pulled out a gun and shot the victim in the leg. Following the shooting, both Pedroso and 65-year-old Jorge Luis Estrada are accused to have continued to assault the victim while he lay wounded and armed on the ground. It was noted that the two suspects then locked the gate, effectively trapping the victim on the property.
As per details from an arrest report by the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office, after the victim lost consciousness, he was allegedly transported by Estrada to another location and left in his vehicle. This sequence of events left the victim in a dire situation, unable to call for immediate medical assistance.
Both Pedroso and Estrada were apprehended at Pedroso's home on the following Wednesday. Pedroso has been identified by the victim through a photo lineup, a fact disclosed by the aforementioned law enforcement body. NBC Miami further detailed that Estrada later drove the victim to his vehicle and left him there while threatening him "to not call the police."
In terms of legal repercussions, Pedroso is facing charges of attempted murder causing injury with a firearm and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon causing great bodily harm. He is presently being held without bond at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. Estrada is also in custody, held at the same facility with a $10,000 bond. He faces charges of aggravated battery and false imprisonment. Both suspects were recently ordered by the court to stay away from the alleged victim.
Despite the arrests, the motive behind the alleged attack remains undisclosed, and updates on the victim's condition have not been released.
