A tumultuous New Year's Eve celebration in Warren County ended with violence, as 28-year-old Olivia Clendenin stands accused of shooting a man during a party. The incident, described by FOX19, saw Clendenin apprehended and facing an attempted murder charge with a $200,000 cash bond. The victim was taken to the hospital and is expected to recover.
In an additional revelation, Local12 reported Clendenin was also accused of felonious assault. When police arrived at the home following the incident, they found the wounded man screaming in pain from a gunshot wound to the abdomen. The shooting appeared to unravel after Clendenin learned that her boyfriend and her ex-husband were together at the party, a detail omitted from the story's early narrative.
The party occurred in Clearcreek Twp., just miles from Springboro High School. According to information obtained by the Dayton Daily News, Clendenin arrived at the event at her boyfriend's home and became irate upon seeing her estranged husband with her boyfriend. "She drove through the front yard and fired shots toward the house," said Clearcreek Lt. Wallace Stacy in a statement. It is believed that the man injured was on the porch at the time of the shooting and had not been directly involved in any altercation with Clendenin.
Following the shooting, Clendenin crashed her mother's vehicle, incurring minor injuries. The Warren County Sheriff's Office investigated the crash and cited her for a misdemeanor OVI. Clendenin was to appear in the Warren County Courthouse to face these charges. As the investigation continues to uncover the motivations behind the shooting fully, the community remains shaken by the event's violent turn, revealing undercurrents of personal strife and discord festering beneath celebratory appearances.
