In an effort to enhance public safety at West Palm Beach's GreenMarket and Antique & Flea Market, officials have introduced new security measures. Starting Saturday last week, the city enforced vehicular restrictions in the market area every Saturday from 5 a.m. to 4 p.m., limiting traffic on key streets such as Flagler Drive and parts of Olive and Narcissus avenues, as reported by WPBF.

The increased security follows recent incidents in New Orleans, drawing attention to public safety. Interim Police Chief Tony Araujo emphasized, "Public safety is our top priority. We want people to feel confident in our preparations," as mentioned in WPBF’s coverage. In addition, local patrons and vendors have observed a stronger presence of police, firefighters, and K9 units in the area, which has generally been well received by the community.

Parking during market hours will remain free, with access to the Banyan Boulevard and City Center garages. Chief Araujo encouraged the public to stay alert, assuring them that law enforcement is prepared to manage any potential issues.

Market regulars Kim and Sharon Humphreys mentioned to WPTV that they have always felt safe at the GreenMarket, but they appreciate the increased presence of police officers. Local vendor and chef Brett Portier said, "We love it! There is a lot of people here a lot of great customers and they need to feel safe in the environment."
