Gilligan's on the Green, a recently established bar and grill in the Cincinnati suburb of Wyoming, is changing hands. West Side Brewing, known for its heritage-rich brews inspired by the British Isles, has confirmed the acquisition of Gilligan's, which will soon undergo a rebranding process. Starting February 1, the establishment at 400 Wyoming Avenue will commence business under the name Gilligan's Brewery. This move comes after West Side Brewing took a step last December to shift its production of Gilligan's line of beers beside the said location, which aligns with their efforts to pay homage to two Irish-American ancestors with deep roots in Cincinnati's brewing history.
According to CityBeat, the acquisition was instigated by the previous owners, EP Investment Group, LLC, to create an "authentic taproom experience." Frank Eversole, President of EP Investment Group, highlighted the logistical benefit of having West Side Brewing take full operational control of the space in light of their on-site brewing activities. Joe Mumper, West Side's CEO, lauded the EP Investment Team for their exceptional renovation and operational work since its opening in November 2023. To ensure continuity and maintain the establishment's reputation, the current management team, including General Manager Emmy Friedrichs and Chef David Mapstead, will retain their roles post-acquisition.
Both Local12 and FOX19 share that visitors can expect some exciting changes under the new ownership, as expressed by Mumper. He stated, "We're looking forward to working with Emmy on some exciting changes that will make Gilligan’s one of the very best brewery taproom experiences in the region." The transition seems to be approached with a collaborative spirit, involving the existing staff in the impending modifications to the brewery experience.
Part of the brewery's charm comes from its dedication to creating traditional beers that reflect British Isles heritage. As Gilligan's head brewer, Ryan Baird, mentioned, "There will be some variety to the product while keeping it very traditional. From Irish-style ales to ordinary bitters, lagers to stouts, there will be a beer for everyone,"—a line captured by CityBeat. This diversity in offerings aims to cater to a broad audience, ensuring that aficionados and casual drinkers find something to appreciate. As cited by CityBeat, enthusiasts and the curious alike can explore further details about the beers and the establishment on the Gilligan's Brewery website closer to its rebranding in February.
