In a notable step towards boosting the city's environmental efforts, the City of White Settlement has announced a record-breaking year for its curbside recycling initiative in 2024. As reported on the city's official social media, White Settlement residents diverted a staggering 873 tons of recyclable materials from landfills due to the widespread use of the recycling carts.
The city expressed gratitude to its citizens for their commitment to recycling and extended thanks to Frontier Waste Management for operating the recycling drop-off station during the transition to curbside recycling. However, the success of the curbside program has led to a noticeable decline in the station's use, resulting in its closure, as announced in a Facebook post by the City of White Settlement.
As a result, the Albert Street drop-off station will officially cease operations on January 31st. Instead, a cardboard recycling dumpster will be set up to accommodate residents with more cardboard waste than their curbside carts can handle. The city is preparing to release further information on the upcoming cardboard recycling options for the community.
