Residents and visitors of north Phoenix's Desert Ridge Marketplace were shaken by an incident on Saturday morning when a woman was shot and seriously injured. According to FOX 10 Phoenix, the shooting occurred at approximately 9:40 a.m. near Tatum Boulevard and Rose Garden Lane, leaving the woman with at least one gunshot wound. The woman's identity has yet to be disclosed by the Phoenix Police Department.
Officers were promptly on the scene to discover the victim and to quickly secure the vicinity for further investigation. It was necessary to shut down the area where the shooting happened, potentially for an extended period, to thoroughly collect evidence and ensure no detail was overlooked. The critical nature of the woman's injuries made for an urgent transport to a local hospital for treatment.
The bustling marketplace, known for its shops and eateries, became the focus of a different kind of attention as law enforcement swarmed the area. Desert Ridge Marketplace, responding to the incident, released a statement to 12News, stating, "We are aware of the situation happening outside of Desert Ridge Marketplace and are fully cooperating with the Phoenix Police Department.
