In the small community of Cordes Lakes, quick action by local Yavapai County Sheriff's Office deputies potentially saved lives and a furry friend from a voracious fire. As reported by the YCSO, a deputy patrolling on Sunday spied smoke that led to a residential garage inflamed on Sierra Drive. While the blaze tore through the structure, their response helped ensure the homeowner's safety that night.
It was not just the homeowner who needed assistance. The deputies were told about a dog trapped inside an outdoor kennel behind the fire-engulfed garage. Slicing through a locked gate with bolt cutters, they managed to extricate the pet from the imminent danger. Running through the smoke, deputies reportedly "quickly jumped into action" to deliver the dog from harm's way, as per the YCSO.
The YCSO team did not stop at the rescue. They proceeded to alert neighboring residents about the significant nighttime fire, facilitating evacuations until the fire department personnel could get the situation under control. The YCSO press release confirmed that due to these efforts, "no people or animals were injured" and assured that "no additional structures were affected.
