Peter Latimore, Jr., 43, from Zephyrhills, has been indicted on charges related to a series of armed robberies across the Tampa Bay area. Latimore, who has a prior conviction for five robberies, is accused of using a firearm to intimidate clerks during these crimes, according to a U.S. Attorney's Office release.

Between October 2 and November 22, 2024, Latimore allegedly targeted businesses in Tampa, Brandon, Zephyrhills, and Plant City, including supermarkets and a beauty supply shop. He approached service desks and displayed a firearm. On one occasion, he threatened a clerk, demanding she act quickly or he would shoot her. Latimore faces charges of interference of commerce by robbery, attempted robbery, use of a firearm during a felony, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Latimore was identified by local law enforcement and agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), leading to his arrest. Officers executed a search warrant at his residence on December 3, 2024, where they found the pistol believed to have been used in the robberies.

An indictment is a formal accusation and not proof of guilt. Latimore is considered innocent until proven guilty. If convicted, he faces a minimum sentence of 29 years to life in federal prison. The investigation was conducted by the ATF, Plant City Police Department, and Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, with prosecution led by Assistant United States Attorney Diego F. Novaes.
