Community members in north St. Louis County were shaken following the shooting of a young child today. The incident occurred in the 400 block of Scenic Drive slightly before the noon hour. FOX 2 Now reported that the child, believed to be approximately 10 years old, suffered from a gunshot wound and was subsequently transported to the hospital for what was described as "life-saving treatment."

Little has been revealed about the circumstances of the shooting, and, the investigators have not yet released further information. The St. Louis County Police Department is conducting a thorough investigation. According to additional coverage by KSDK, the officers arrived at the scene after receiving reports of the incident and found the injured child.
