A tragic incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday in west Phoenix, where a young man lost his life after his vehicle struck a tree. At approximately 1:45 a.m. on Feb. 23, Jesus Dominguez-Romo, age 20, was involved in a single-car accident near the intersection of 59th Avenue and Indian School Road. According to the Phoenix Police Department, speed is suspected to have played a role in the crash.
Investigators believe that Dominguez-Romo was traveling westbound on Indian School Road when he lost control of his car. "Detectives took over the investigation and learned Dominguez-Romo was driving west on Indian School Road at a high rate of speed when he lost control crashing into a tree on the north side of the road," Sgt. Brian Bower of the Phoenix Police Department explained in a statement obtained by FOX 10 Phoenix.
12News adds that the Phoenix Fire Department was the first to arrive at the scene, where they confirmed that Dominguez-Romo had died due to the collision. The area surrounding the accident site was closed to traffic as the police worked to meticulously unravel the circumstances leading up to the devastating event.
