Last evening, Las Cruces police reported a tragic event, a 54-year-old man lost his life in a violent three-vehicle collision on the north side of the city. The incident, which unfolded on the 900 block of North Valley Drive around 9 p.m., involved a high-speed impact with fatal consequences.
The sequence of events, as detailed by the Las Cruces police investigators, began when a 2024 black Nissan Armada, accelerating at a high rate of speed, slammed into a silver Chevrolet Malibu from behind and this collision propelled the Malibu into oncoming traffic, causing it to sideswipe an orange Ford Mustang, after which the Armada veered off the street and crashed into a building, as detailed by the City of Las Cruces.
Tragically, the Armada's driver identified as Michael James Massa, a 54-year-old resident of Bellflower, California, suffered severe injuries and was rushed to Mountainview Regional Medical Center, where he later passed away. The drivers and passengers of the Malibu and Mustang survived the encounter, suffering non-life-threatening injuries and receiving treatment at local hospitals.
