
Albany police apprehended a man on outstanding felony warrants on Tuesday, and the incident also led to the seizure of an untraceable firearm. According to a social media post from the Albany Police Department, the encounter took place on the Ohlone Greenway around lunchtime when officers recognized the individual who was known to them.
The attempt to approach led to a foot chase as the suspect tried to evade law enforcement. The pursuit ended without further incident, and officers were able to take the man, an Albany resident, into custody. During the arrest, authorities discovered a "ghost gun" equipped with a loaded extended magazine. They found an additional loaded magazine as well.
The subsequent charges against the individual were substantial, including being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm, a convicted felon in possession of ammunition, carrying a concealed firearm, possession of a firearm without a serial number, and possession of large capacity magazines, the Albany Police Department stated. The suspect was remanded to Santa Rita Jail, where he will await his court proceedings.
