Last week, an ordinary traffic stop in Albany escalated into a significant bust when officers discovered a loaded firearm and various narcotics. According to a social media post from the Albany Police Department, last Saturday at approximately 10:11 PM, police pulled over a vehicle on the 800 block of Buchanan Avenue for undisclosed reasons.

Upon approaching the vehicle, officers observed what looked like illegal drugs and brass knuckles. A conversation with the occupants quickly turned into an interrogation about possible additional weapons. The passenger, at first denying such possessions, eventually conceded to having a firearm. It was reportedly in a bag resting, incongruently, on his lap as the stop unfolded.

The police report states that the officers managed to safely remove both the driver and the passenger from the car before seizing the loaded .45 caliber gun, an extra loaded magazine, and a variety of narcotics, including Fentanyl, Cocaine, and Oxycodone pills. Through a statement on their Facebook page, the Albany Police Department revealed that the driver, a woman from Vacaville, received a citation at the scene. She faced possession charges for the drugs and paraphernalia. The male passenger from Vallejo found his journey ending behind bars at the Santa Rita Jail without further incident.
