
A recent incident in Tower Grove South has left the community on alert after a reported robbery. According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, on Tuesday night, around 9:40 p.m., a 24-year-old man was the victim of an armed robbery while he was seated on a bench in the 3100 block of S. Grand.
The victim shared with officers that his attention was captured by the sound of a gunshot, and then, a masked gunman approached him, demanding he release his luggage. In a panic, the man fled, dropping his belongings in the process and evading injury. The police have since recovered the luggage, found intact in the vicinity of the initial encounter, their contents undisturbed despite the turmoil.
Law enforcement conducted a thorough search in the aftermath, going door-to-door in an attempt to glean information from the neighborhood that might lead to the perpetrator. So far, the identity of the suspect is unknown, and the police are continuing their investigation into the matter.
The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department is urging anyone with information that could help crack this case to come forward, promising anonymity and the potential of a financial incentive for tips that result in an arrest.
