A man convicted of murdering his girlfriend and committing violent carjackings in 2020 has been sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole, plus an additional 145 years. Fortune Spencer, 30, was found guilty of charges related to the killing of his 24-year-old girlfriend, Sherika Little, and a series of carjackings and assaults, as reported by FOX 5 Atlanta.
On June 6, 2020, Spencer shot Little while she was sitting in a parked car at the Hilton Perimeter Suites on Peachtree Dunwoody Road. This event led to a series of criminal acts, including the shooting of an Atlanta police officer during a carjacking attempt on Hammond Drive. Spencer also carjacked an elderly woman and caused multiple vehicle collisions, as reported by Rough Draft Atlanta.
The violent spree ended when Spencer, attempting another carjacking, was struck by a passing motorist and then apprehended by Sandy Springs Police. Authorities stated that the events were a tragic result of domestic violence, compounded by Spencer's reckless actions in fleeing law enforcement.
Spencer was convicted of two counts of felony murder, one count of murder, several counts of motor vehicle hijacking, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and possession of a firearm as a convicted felon, among other charges, leading to his life sentence and additional years in prison.
