The Atlanta Police Department is investigating a pedestrian fatality that occurred late last night at the intersection of Campbellton Rd SW and Childress Dr SW. Officers arrived at the scene at approximately 11:58 pm and found a male victim lying in the roadway.
According to the Atlanta Police Department release, Emergency Medical Services from Grady Hospital responded quickly and transported the injured man to the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead from critical injuries. The APD Accident Investigations Unit is working to determine the events that led to the fatality.
Preliminary investigation suggests that the victim was sitting in the road when he was struck by a red or maroon-colored pick up truck. The truck, which was moving at a low speed, did not stop after the collision and continued traveling east on Campbellton Rd.
