
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation probes into an unsettling homicide case. Kierra Burney, 34, was found dead last Wednesday, and preliminary autopsy results have classified her death as a homicide. The case has garnered the full attention of both local and state authorities.
It was a work crew, going about their routine near Pondtown Road, that stumbled upon the grim scene. Immediately after the body's recovery, it was sent to the GBI Crime Lab where the identity of the victim was confirmed, according to the official GBI release. The Decatur County Sheriff's Office requested assistance from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI).
The Decatur County Sheriff’s Office has announced a reward of up to $1,000 from the "Decatur County Citizens Against Crime Fund" for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for this heinous act, as noted by the GBI. Anyone with details about Kierra Burney’s tragic passing is urged to contact Lt. Gabe Cofer at 229-400-8014 or Lt. Charles King at 229-400-8016. The GBI’s Thomasville office is also accepting tips at 229-225-4090. Once investigators complete their work, the case will be turned over to the South Georgia Judicial Circuit District Attorney's Office, where the prosecution will proceed in seeking justice for Kierra Burney.
