The search for 18-year-old Samuel N. Green, who was reported missing from Chicago's far south suburbs, ended in tragedy when his body was discovered in a wooded area of Will County. According to ABC7 Chicago, Green was reported missing last Thursday and found dead just three days later beneath a drain pipe.
Green was last observed on a Ring doorbell camera near his home, situated in the 23800 block of South Plum Valley in Crete, at 1:40 p.m. on Thursday. Efforts to locate him included the use of deputies, additional officers, drones, and K-9 units who searched the residence and surrounding area before eventually finding him. Fox32 Chicago revealed that Green suffered from schizophrenia, paranoia, and other mental health issues. The roles mental health played in his disappearance and death have yet to be clarified.
The Will County Coroner's Office is set to conduct an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death, which remains undisclosed at this time. "The Sheriff's Office would like to extend our deepest sympathies to the Green family, their relatives and friends," the Will County Sheriff's Office stated as per ABC7 Chicago, expressing their condolences in the face of this significant loss.
Authorities have not publicly disclosed any suspected foul play or other details that may have led to Green's untimely death. As updates become available, they will be shared to provide clarity on this unfortunate incident.
