Brisbane Community Rallies to Aid Mother and Child in DUI Collision, Suspect DetainedSource: Google Street View

Last night, a severe vehicle collision occurred outside Midtown Market at 249 Visitacion Ave in Brisbane. At approximately 6 PM, authorities arrived at a distressing scene where a mother, while outside her vehicle, had been hit by a driver. Her 4-year-old daughter, who was near her on the roadway, fortunately sustained only minor injuries, as reported by the Brisbane Police Department's social media post.

While the mother's condition is still serious, it is thanks to the prompt response and collective efforts of residents that no further harm occurred. These individuals rapidly organized to block off the road and supported the child, protecting her from the trauma of her mother's critical state. As per the Brisbane Police Department's social media, Chief Lisa Macias expressed her gratitude, "We are deeply thankful for the selflessness and courage shown by the members of our community. Their quick thinking helped prevent further harm and provided comfort to the child during a traumatic moment."

Early this morning, the 71-year-old male driver involved in the incident was taken into custody and is currently at Maguire Correctional Facility. He faces charges, including Driving Under the Influence Causing Injury under California Vehicle Code Section 23153(a). Further charges are anticipated as police continue their investigation.

The Brisbane Police Department is also collaborating with Midtown Market to acquire additional surveillance material to assist the investigation. They've called for anyone with more information to step forward and contact Sgt. Robert Guaydacan at (415) 467-1212.
