A Canton man, identified as Travis Ingram Jr., has been sentenced for the 2023 murder of Columbus rapper Charles Smith, known by his stage name B-Att. According to a Franklin County Prosecutor's Office report, Ingram pleaded guilty to the murder, which took place at the Doll House nightclub and resulted in Smith's death and injuries to three other individuals.
Following his plea, Judge Sheryl Munson delivered Ingram’s sentencing, involving a life term with parole eligibility after 21 years. Ingram was found to have used a Glock pistol with a 50-round drum magazine during the incident. The assault happened just after Smith had completed a performance at the nightclub. To quickly bring Ingram to justice, U.S. Marshals apprehended him in Stark County on February 22, 2023.
Ingram’s prosecution was handled by assistant prosecuting attorneys Simon Huh and Karly Keller. Following the nightclub shooting and subsequent legal scrutiny, Columbus City Attorney Zach Klein took action against the Doll House. A lawsuit was filed with a focus on addressing safety issues at the establishment. The venue was closed for roughly ten months and has since been allowed to reopen under strict security measures mandated by Franklin County Municipal Court.
