Chandler residents planning their Presidents' Day activities should take note of changes in city services for the holiday on February 17, as reported by the City of Chandler official website. All administrative offices for the City of Chandler will be closed in observance of the holiday. However, essential services such as trash and recycling collection are set to continue as scheduled.
For those looking to drop off waste themselves, remember that the Recycling-Solid Waste Collection Center is not going to be open. Meanwhile, the Chandler Tennis Center plans to maintain operations during regular hours, from 7:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Fitness enthusiasts and families might like to know that the Tumbleweed Recreation Center will also be open, but with special holiday hours that span from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m, as detailed by the City of Chandler.
Several facilities, however, will not be welcoming visitors. The Chandler Nature Center, Snedigar Recreation Center, Senior Center, and the downtown Community Center will all remain closed. The closure list extends to all Chandler Public Libraries – including Downtown, Basha, Hamilton, and Sunset locations – as well as the Chandler Museum. Those hoping to catch a show or visit a gallery will have to pause their plans as the box office at the Center for the Arts and both the Vision Gallery and the Center for the Arts Gallery will be closed during the holiday, taking a short break starting Saturday, Feb. 15 through Monday, Feb. 17, as per the City of Chandler.
Swimmers should take heed: no lap swimming sessions will be held at Mesquite Groves, Desert Oasis, Hamilton, or Nozomi aquatic centers. According to Jennifer Honea, Public Information Officer, who can be reached at 480-782-2228, these facilities, along with all other aquatic centers and pools, remain closed for the season anyway.
