In the aftermath of this tragedy, statements from the police department convey a deep sense of sorrow and communal loss. "Her loss is a shock to her family and those who knew her, and it is our responsibility to support them as they grieve," stated Chicago Police Supt. Larry Snelling in an email which was obtained by NBC Chicago.
Further extending support, Supt. Snelling also emphasized the importance of seeking solace and assistance amongst their peers. He reminded officers of available resources, such as the department’s employee assistance program and peer support services, for those coping with the weight of mourning. According to a statement, "We must also keep her 006th district family and Academy classmates in our thoughts during this difficult time," embodied by Supt. Snelling in his correspondence reported by NBC Chicago. The department has not issued further comments regarding the investigation's progress as of yet.
