The Chicago Police Department has announced an upcoming DUI Saturation Patrol this weekend for the 19th (Town Hall) District, as part of their ongoing efforts to curb impaired driving and related traffic violations. According to a news release, the operation will commence Friday, February 8, 2025, at 6 p.m., and continue until Saturday, February 9, at 2 a.m. Officers assigned to this enforcement will target not just DUI offenses but also keep an eye out for speed, alcohol-related, and seat belt violations among others.

Equipped with speed detection devices, the saturated patrols aim to stop speeding drivers before they can cause harm on the roads. Additionally, resources such as the Breath Alcohol Testing (BAT) Mobile Unit will be deployed for efficient processing of DUI charges. This allows for the issuance of Individual Recognizance Bonds (I-Bonds) directly at the site, an effort that streamlines the apprehension and charging process for suspects.

Results of a similar initiative in the 19th District last month showed a mix of traffic infractions. Notably, there were zero DUI arrests, but there were 11 unsafe vehicle violations, 7 insurance violations, 4 seat belt violations, and 10 speed violations among other citations, totaling 39. This data released by the Chicago Police Department on their official website highlights the effectiveness of DUI Saturation Patrols in identifying and addressing a variety of traffic-related offenses.
