Three individuals from Chicago found themselves in handcuffs yesterday after Mt. Juliet police officers, drawn by a failure to use a turn signal, discovered thousands of dollars worth of stolen sporting merchandise in their vehicle. The incident commenced near Academy Sports, where the suspected shoplifters' vehicle caught the attention of law enforcement due to suspicious behavior, as reported by WKRN.
The suspects, described as a 24-year-old man, a 42-year-old man, and a 43-year-old woman, were likely "scouting their next target" when the traffic stop revealed they were carrying $7,000 worth of baseball bats and pickleball rackets stolen from Dick’s Sporting Goods, as per a report by WKRN. Notably, the store hadn't yet caught on to the theft.
Following their arrest, the trio was booked into the Wilson County Jail. Mt. Juliet Police took to social media to commend their officers' vigilance, stating, "Thanks to proactive policing, the stolen merchandise was returned, and these suspects will now be held accountable for their crimes." At present, additional information regarding the charges faced by each individual has not been made available.
