The El Cajon Police Department made a disturbing discovery after a harrowing police chase. A deceased woman was found in the trunk of a car following a reported kidnapping and subsequent vehicular pursuit. The report of a possible kidnapping involving a black Hyundai Sonata came in at around 4:55 PM yesterday, according to the official news release from the El Cajon City website.
The officers spotted the vehicle at the corner of Madison Ave. and Magnolia Ave. As they attempted to intervene, the driver initiated a flight, weaving through El Cajon, bolting down Interstate 8, then crashing into two other cars after exiting back into El Cajon. The statement from the El Cajon Police detailed that after the pursuit, the driver, an adult male, was arrested when officers had to resort to using a Taser to restrain him.
Upon a subsequent search of the Hyundai, the body of an adult female was located in the trunk. The identity of the woman, as well as the cause of death, remains currently undisclosed, with investigations ongoing. The police have yet to release further details surrounding the harrowing incident, and the connection, if any, between the driver and the deceased woman has not been revealed.
Fortunately, the individuals in the vehicles struck during the incident were reported unharmed. The El Cajon Police Department urges anyone with more information to step forward and assist, either by contacting them directly at 619-579-3311 or through silent tips at sdcrimestoppers.org.
