Las Cruces has announced a leadership change in its Community Development Department, with Chris Faivre stepping in as the new director starting March 9, according to the City of Las Cruces. Faivre, who brings a robust 24 years of municipal government experience to the table, is set to take over responsibilities for Community Planning, Building Safety, and coordinating permitting and inspections to streamline the city's development operations.
In his previous tenures, Faivre worked as Director of Marketing for Visit Las Cruces, and he has taken on the roles of Business Development Administrator and Deputy Director of Economic Development, his work there significantly impacted the city's strategic vision leading to such achievements as the establishment of Metropolitan Redevelopment Areas and the City increasing its Gross Receipts Tax to bolster public safety and infrastructure, Faivre's expertise in economic development is seen as a catalytic force for Las Cruces’ prospective growth.
The new Community Development Director holds a master's degree in Communications, which has helped him develop the skill of transforming complex policy rhetoric into clear, tangible action plans, a trait that serves the city’s long-term developmental and economic goals. Faivre's approach is pitched to blend forward-thinking with pragmatic strategy, ensuring that the growth aligns with the city's vision for the future.
