A 17-year-old has been taken into custody in connection with the daytime shooting death of 50-year-old Allen Scott, which occurred on February 6 along West McMicken Avenue, a location straddling the border of West End and Over-the-Rhine neighborhoods in Cincinnati. The Cincinnati Enquirer reports that the unnamed teen is accused of the fatal shooting that took place near a local playground and is now facing murder charges.
Scott, a resident of Cincinnati for over a decade and a Northern Kentucky native was found with a gunshot wound when police arrived at the scene around 11 a.m. following a report of a shooting. Despite life-saving efforts by Cincinnati firefighters, Scott, known in the community as a member of the heavy metal band Opium Doom Cult, was pronounced dead at the location. WCPO noted that the shooting happened outside on the sidewalk, amid residential buildings, yet no one else was reported injured in the vicinity.
Further developments in the case have emerged with the juvenile suspect now facing additional legal charges. According to court documents released, the teen is being charged with one count of aggravated murder, one count of murder, one count of felonious assault, and two counts of aggravated robbery. Information obtained by FOX19 also reveals that the young suspect is accused of committing an armed robbery against a 70-year-old individual on the same day as the fatal shooting, hinting at a possibly alarming pattern of violent behavior within hours.
As the investigation continues, Cincinnati authorities have called on the public for cooperation. "Anyone with information about Scott’s death is urged to call Cincinnati Crimestoppers at 513-352-3040," Lt. Jonathan Cunningham stated through FOX19 News. Cincinnati Police Department’s Fugitive Apprehension Squad was responsible for the arrest of the teen on Monday, with an appearance in juvenile court scheduled the following Tuesday morning. The layered charges against the teen signal a worrisome chapter of youth entangled in actions of irreparable consequence, and a tragic loss deeply felt by a community now reminiscent of a life extinguished too soon.
