Colma's routine patrol turned into a drug bust last Saturday, leading to two arrests, including a felony warrant case. According to the Colma Police Department, a police officer initiated a traffic stop after spotting a vehicle without rear license plates on Colma Boulevard. A male driver and female passenger were inside the car at the time.
During the encounter, the male driver failed to show a California Driver's License and instead verbally identified himself, upon which the officer spotted drug paraphernalia in plain view on his lap. After a brief detention, it was discovered the driver had provided a fake identity, only coming clean with his real name when he attempted to subtly discard a small bag of a substance believed to be methamphetamine, which the officers promptly observed. This all occurred while he was seated on the front push bar of the patrol car. A thorough search of the vehicle later uncovered additional methamphetamine.
The consequent identification checks also revealed that the female passenger, Yesenia Perez Hernandez, a 38-year-old San Francisco resident, had a $2,500 outstanding felony warrant from a neighboring jurisdiction. She was arrested on the warrant, "was issued a new court date and released on her promise to appear in court," the Colma Police Department shared. Her counterpart, Gerson Bravo López, a 33-year-old from Oakland, faced arrest for possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and giving false information to a police officer. He was issued a citation, promised to appear in court, and watched as his vehicle was hauled away.
