Cookeville has named Jenni Nisewander as its next Finance Director Designee, an announcement made by City Manager James Mills. Nisewander, succeeding the long-serving finance director, Brenda Imel, will take the reins to oversee the city's financial responsibilities. While Imel's retirement date is still up in the air, Nisewander's appointment is part of a strategy to ensure a smooth transition.
Nisewander's qualifications for the finance director role are robust. She earned her bachelor's degree in Accounting and Master of Business Administration from Tennessee Technological University. Moreover, she is certified as both a Public Accountant (CPA) and a Municipal Finance Officer (CMFO), credentials that speak to her expertise. Her career trajectory before coming to the City of Cookeville in 2022 included nearly 15 years at Arnold Engineering Development Complex, where her focus was accounting. She is well-rooted in the region, having grown up in Doyle, TN, and now residing in Cookeville with her husband, Jered, and their son, Carter.
The city leadership is vocal about its confidence in Nisewander's leadership ability.
