In a recent announcement through their social media platform, the City of Coon Rapids, MN - Local Government introduced Lori Halbur, a social worker assigned to the Coon Rapids Police Department. Halbur is available to meet with community members seeking assistance on a range of issues, from mental health to homelessness and everything in between.
According to the social media post, sessions are held every third Thursday of the month at the Anoka County Library, Crooked Lake Branch. These meetings provide a unique opportunity for citizens to receive guidance without the need for an appointment, ensuring that help is accessible for those who might find themselves in immediate need.
During these drop-in sessions, Halbur is equipped to offer assistance on a breadth of concerns. Among the services highlighted are mental health support, substance use resources, and aid for those facing insecurity in housing, food, or finances. Additionally, resources for job insecurity and child or parenting issues are also addressed, alongside support for older adults and aging.
