Copa Airlines is set to widely open the skies between San Diego and Panama City, Panama. Starting June 25, 2025, the airline will offer non-stop flights four times a week, connecting Californians directly to Latin America. "The launch of this new route strengthens our destination network and expands travel options for our passengers," Copa Airlines CEO Pedro Heilbron said in a statement, as reported by the San Diego International Airport's website.
This new service aims to significantly improve connectivity for passengers, making travel to and from Southern California more convenient. It's also eyed to boost tourism and business opportunities, firmly establishing San Diego as a dynamic hub that invites exploration and exchange. Copa's dedication to efficiency, punctuality, and service shines through as they add San Diego to their route network, which includes 86 destinations across 32 countries.
San Diego's array of attractions, ranging from sun-soaked beaches to cultural landmarks, is expected to draw in visitors across the Americas. Known for its diverse population and high quality of life, America’s Finest City is home to Coronado Beach, La Jolla Cove, the prestigious San Diego Zoo, and Old Town San Diego State Historic Park. The city's cultural and historical heritage and its modern vibrancy make it an attractive destination for business and leisure travelers.
Kicking off the service, flights depart from Tocumen International Airport at 1:16 p.m. local time and arrive in San Diego at 6:15 p.m. On the flip side, flights leaving San Diego will do so at precisely 8:58 p.m., touching down in Panama City early the next morning at 5:20 a.m. As said by Pedro Heilbron, adding San Diego will "enhance connectivity between Southern California and Central America, South America, and the Caribbean," ushering in a new era of cross-continental linkage. Kimberly Becker, President and CEO of the San Diego County Regional Airport Authority, expressed enthusiasm for the new service, as per San Diego International Airport, "This route will boost opportunities for business and leisure travel to Central and South America like never before."
