In a recent development regarding the vandalism of Denver's Martin Luther King Jr. monument, a second suspect, 68-year-old Herman Duran, has been sentenced after entering a guilty plea. As reported by 9News, Duran faced charges in Denver District Court on Friday and admitted guilt to one count of criminal mischief, with damage estimates ranging between $20,000 and $100,000. As a result of the plea deal, a theft charge against him was dismissed.

Furthermore, The Denver Post reports that Herman Duran has been sentenced not only to 90 days in jail, with 33 days already served, but also must pay $69,900 in restitution. The crime involved the theft of a bronze panel, torch, and angel from the "I Have a Dream" memorial, with the damage found by Denver parks employees early last year. His brother, Robert Duran, was also implicated in the same incident.

According to Denver7, Herman's accomplice and brother, Robert Duran, had previously turned himself in to the Denver Police Department and entered a guilty plea. He was sentenced in late October. This occurrence came approximately three months before Herman Duran accepted the plea bargain which led to his sentencing.
