A new multimillionaire was minted over the weekend after a winning Illinois Lottery ticket was purchased in Des Plaines. According to a Daily Herald report, a $10.4 million jackpot-winning Lotto ticket was bought Saturday at a local Mobil gas station located at 9660 Golf Road.
The lucky winner, who has yet to come forward, snagged the giant prize by matching all six winning numbers: 6, 9, 18, 31, 39, and 49. As the purveyors of good fortune, the gas station itself will receive a $104,000 bonus, which is 1% of the prize, for selling the winning ticket. Still a month ago after purchasing the store, Jinu John, the Mobil station's co-owner, expressed his excitement and surprise at the windfall, as mentioned in an ABC7 Chicago interview. "We only bought this store a month ago, and already we have a big jackpot winner!" John exclaimed. "I don't know who won - but it's certainly one lucky guy or girl."
The identity of the individual holding the fortune-changing piece of paper remains a mystery to the public and the sellers alike. Lottery winners in Illinois have a timeline of one year from the draw date to claim their life-altering prizes.
