
A tragic altercation in a KFC parking lot in North Nashville has resulted in the death of a 40-year-old man and charges against 30-year-old Isaiah Alexander Maston. In what appears to have been a dispute escalated by the presence of an unleashed dog, the shooting took place "some time before 3:21 p.m." at the fast-food outlet located on Rosa L. Parks Boulevard, WSMV reports.
According to the Metro Nashville Police Department, the conflict began when the victim, whose name has yet to be disclosed pending family notification, and a female companion encountered Maston's dog near the KFC's entrance. The Metro Nashville PD posted that the shooter and victim were unknown to each other before the fatal event. Taken by surprise by the confrontation, the woman walked toward the road as Maston and the victim exchanged heated words, leading to a serious confrontation that resulted in the shooting, the details of which were shared in a social media post from Metro Nashville PD.

Fleeing immediately after the incident, Maston was apprehended by North Precinct Officer Keegan Winchell, who found him sitting on steps at a nearby apartment. The gun used in the crime was also recovered. The NewsChannel5 further described the swift response from Metro police that led to the arrest of Maston without incident.
The victim was promptly transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries. While currently being held on a hefty bond of $210,000, Maston faces charges of criminal homicide and aggravated assault. His dog has since been taken into the care of Metro Animal Control, thus concluding one chain of custody, as reported by WSMV.
