On Sunday morning, downtown Memphis was the scene of a shooting incident involving two vehicles and a bystander. According to the Memphis Police Department, the episode took place at the intersection of Second and Beale Street at approximately 3:15 a.m., where two cars involved in an accident escalated the situation by discharging firearms, Action News 5 reported.
The victim, who was near his vehicle at the time of the incident, recounted how the two cars, following their collision, opened fire on him, striking his vehicle multiple times, in a statement obtained by WREG. Descriptions of the suspect vehicles— a dark-colored Dodge SUV, potentially a Durango, and a light-colored sedan, were shared by police as they fled the scene. Fortunately, no injuries were reported as a result of the gunfire.
Law enforcement officials are actively pursuing leads in an ongoing investigation, striving to apprehend the individuals who instigated the shooting. As the search for the suspects continues, the MPD has not made any arrests in connection with the case.
