This morning, a white BMW X6 caught the attention of CHP Oakland Area units when it zipped along I-580, reaching dangerous speeds over 120 mph. According to a social media post by CHP Oakland, the high-speed journey took a swift turn when the vehicle sped off the freeway at Harrison Street, only to crash as the driver lost control.
The series of events escalated quickly around 12:40 a.m., with officers moving in on the crashed BMW, detaining the driver who, following an investigation on-site, was found alongside a loaded handgun, multiple bottles of suspected narcotics, a digital scale, and baggies typically used for drug sales.
The driver, whose identity wasn't released, faced immediate arrest and was booked into Santa Rita Jail under a litany of charges.
