The El Paso County Sheriff's Office made a significant arrest on January 30, detaining a suspect with a loaded resume of charges including vehicle theft and narcotics distribution. The apprehension unfolded after answering a 911 call of an individual attempting to break into vehicles on Preminger Drive within the Security/Widefield area.
Responding deputies located the suspect's stolen F-150, which harbored not just Jose Daniel Paramo Guerra but an unnamed accomplice. The ensuing brief car chase soon transformed into a foot pursuit, with suspects taking off in opposite directions after being cornered on a dead-end. Deputies had to quickly adapt and deploy a drone to efficiently track down one of the fleeing individuals, eventually leading to Paramo Guerra's arrest on Fountain Valley School grounds, according to the El Paso County Sheriff's Office.
The El Paso County Sheriff's Office discovered a trove of illicit goods inside the stolen F-150. A search revealed a stolen firearm, 1.5 grams of heroin, a large quantity of marijuana, and several items aligned with narcotics distribution. Additionally, a multitude of stolen retail goods was found, indicating expansive criminal endeavors.
"This individual has repeatedly exploited false identities to evade accountability and justice," El Paso County Sheriff Joseph Roybal attested, as per El Paso County Sheriff’s Office. "He is a convicted felon with a history of using fraudulent identities in the commission of violent crimes." Paramo Guerra's saga with the law now sees him facing numerous charges, among them vehicle theft and the special offender status due to his record of criminal activity.
Despite the arrest of Paramo Guerra, efforts are ongoing to locate the second suspect involved in the case. Meanwhile, Paramo Guerra sits behind bars at the El Paso County Jail, his bond set at $50,000.
