Yesterday, officers from the American Canyon Police pulled over a silver Mercedes with expired tags, kicking off a scene that would transition swiftly from traffic violation to identity theft bust. According to an update posted on Facebook by the American Canyon Police Department, a records check revealed that the driver, 35-year-old Brian Light of Elk Grove, was on probation for identity theft, which he disclosed to the police upon the stop on American Canyon Road.
The vehicle search turned up eight credit cards in Light's wallet, belonging to none other than unforeseen individuals, along with two more strategically placed within the console's grasp. The backseat held yet another clue, with several Amazon packages stripped of their shipping labels, an apparent ploy to mask the real recipients of the goods.
This series of unsettling findings led to the inevitable: Brian Light was arrested and booked into Napa County Jail on identity theft charges.
