The City of Tempe, in partnership with Rio Salado College, has organized a day that’s as much about foundation-laying as it is about networking. "Shine Your Light: Empowering Young Women to Lead and Succeed," a one-day event catering to the ambitions of teen and college-aged women, is set to unfurl a tapestry of leadership, empowerment, and connection.
According to an announcement made by the city, the conference scheduled for March 22, from 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m at the Rio Salado College Conference Center, boasts a variety of workshops, networking opportunities, and even a music performance. Free headshots and a fashion show—complete with sartorial success strategies—round out the agenda. But planning for the event while spots remain; attendance is free of charge, though limited.
Vice Mayor Doreen Garlid, the conference's host, told the city's news page, "The Shine Your Light Conference and mentoring program creates an opportunity for young women to learn the tools to lead and succeed." She added, "It’s important to enable young women to find their talents, their voice, their purpose so they can shine bright. And, once that light is shining, it can’t be dimmed."
The day's program includes an impressive lineup of speakers and sessions on a diverse array of topics from career development to self-care. Expect talks on financial literacy and health and wellness that are tailored to enrich the young audience's personal and professional lives.
