According to the Chicago Sun-Times, officials found a body after extinguishing a fire that ripped through the structure, consequently displacing residents from 11 apartment units. In a compassionate response to the dire situation, Cicero President Larry Dominick has called for a donation drive to support the affected individuals, an initiative to be organized by local authorities and community clergy.
This bleak event occurred at the 2200 block of Central Avenue at approximately 5 p.m. Upon arrival, firefighters and police discovered that the conflagration had already spread to neighboring buildings, causing significant damage, including shattered windows and broken doors. The Red Cross alongside village officials swiftly stepped in to provide shelter for those suddenly without a home. While initial reports from NBC Chicago indicated that family members believed the deceased had been outside at the time of the explosion, their remains were ultimately located within the debris.
