A 21-year-old man was recently indicted on multiple charges after a shooting incident inside a Joseph Chevrolet showroom in Colerain Township. Rashid Dewees, from Fairfield, is now facing two counts of felonious assault and a single charge of inducing panic following the events at the dealership last week, The Enquirer reported.
The incident, which occurred last Thursday afternoon, prompted an evacuation of the dealership after Dewees allegedly pointed a firearm at someone and fired shots while people were inside. No one was injured in the event, which saw Colerain Township police officers arriving on the scene around 4 p.m., hearing additional shots, and observing individuals fleeing from the area, WLWT detailed.
Upon their arrival, the officers promptly entered the building and located Dewees in the showroom, proceeding to take him into custody without incident. The initial reports did not suggest a clear motive or an argument that led to the episode. Meanwhile, the dealership quickly extended its sympathies and assurances to its staff and clientele. "To our employees and customers, we want to extend our sincerest apologies for the distress and fear this situation may have caused," a statement issued by Joseph Chevrolet on Facebook said, noting that they will be "committed to working closely with local authorities to enhance safety measures within our dealership," FOX19 NOW reported.
