According to a social media post from IMPD News, a total of one adult and four juveniles were arrested on Friday night in connection with two separate armed carjackings in Indianapolis. IMPD robbery detectives and Northwest District officers responded to these incidents after they were reported minutes apart from each other.

The night of Saturday saw the first carjacking reported just after 10:00 p.m. where a victim, in a parking lot at the 1700 block of Tanglewood Square, was approached by four individuals wearing ski masks and armed with handguns. Observably shaken but unharmed, the victim watched as their vehicle was forcefully taken. To find more details on this incident, the public can preventatively visit IMPD News.

Shortly thereafter, a similar report was made from the 2200 block of Biscay Square. This second victim recounted a similar encounter with two black males in ski masks, demanding the vehicle at gunpoint. Both incidents led to a quick deployment of officers in the area and the utilization of license-plate reader technology, which assisted in locating the stolen vehicles on Georgetown Road.

Attempts to stop the vehicles led to pursuits, one concluding with the deployment of tire deflation devices. The stopped vehicle saw four suspects attempt to flee on foot, with two, including 20-year-old Damon James, eventually being apprehended. In the concurrent chase, another vehicle intentionally struck a police car before crashing, leading to a foot chase and two more juveniles being taken into custody. "The 13-year-old male was arrested for resisting law enforcement. The 15-year-old female was arrested for dangerous possession of a firearm by a minor and resisting law enforcement," was explicitly detailed in a statement obtained by IMPD News.

Whilst investigators were on scene, a call came in for a suspicious person, resulting in the arrest of a 17-year-old male in possession of a handgun with an extended magazine. The Marion County Prosecutor's Office is expected to make the final charging decision. Meanwhile, anyone with information on the incidents has been urged to contact Detective Scott Nickels or Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana. As the investigations continue, these individuals remain suspects, innocent until proven guilty.
