The streets of Fort Collins are set to become a winter wonderland of activity this Valentine's Day, as the city gears up for its 18th Annual Winter Bike to Work Day, encouraging residents to choose active transportation modes like biking, walking, and scooting. According to the City of Fort Collins, adventurers seeking to savor some wintry air can kickstart their morning with free coffee and breakfast treats from 7 to 9:30 a.m., thanks to the spread of breakfast stations across the city.

"Winter Bike to Work Day is a wonderful way to embrace the spirit of Fort Collins in the colder months," AnnMarie Kirkpatrick, City of Fort Collins Active Modes Specialist said, highlighting the day as a celebration of the community's dedication to active transportation and the unparalleled joy of biking against a backdrop of frosty breezes and crystalline skies, though it is of note that there will be no closing ceremony this year, as the city opts, instead, to enrich the experience directly at the numerous stations. Participants can find the map of these breakfast stations on the city's event page, as detailed by the City of Fort Collins.

The festivities don't end with the morning rush, for afternoon stations will open their arms, or more accurately, their booths, from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m., catering to those who will be pedaling back homewards or to their next port of call. It's an initiative that not only fortifies the bonds among Fort Collins citizens but also champions the environmental cause, as evinced by past events. Last year, more than 5,400 participants partook, mitigating 44,236 vehicle miles, which translated into a saving of approximately 16 metric tons of CO2 equivalent emissions, metrics that serve as a testament to the collective effort in curbing vehicular pollution.
