The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) is investigating an officer-involved shooting in Clayton County at the request of the Clayton County Police Department. The incident occurred on Tuesday evening, leaving 21-year-old Daniel Neal from Jonesboro, GA, critically injured, and an officer in stable condition after being shot.

According to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation's press release, the incident began when deputies from the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office attempted to arrest Neal on an aggravated assault charge. Neal fled in a vehicle, leading officers on a chase that ended at a residence on Summer Chase Drive, where a standoff occurred.

Clayton County SWAT officers were called to the scene and tried to get Neal to surrender. Despite their efforts, Neal refused to comply. After several hours, SWAT officers entered the home to search for Neal. Neal, hiding inside, fired at the officers, injuring one. The officers returned fire, hitting Neal multiple times.

Both the injured officer and Neal were given medical attention and taken to a local hospital. The officer is in stable condition, while Neal remains in critical condition. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is continuing its investigation, and the findings will be sent to the Clayton County District Attorney's Office for review.
