
Last Friday morning, an incident occurred on a section of Highway 140 in Lake County. Authorities disclosed that at approximately 11:33 a.m., a westbound Nissan Sentra, with Laura Anne Keys of Grants Pass behind the wheel, veered off the road and plunged down a steep embankment, as reported by the Oregon State Police.
The 47-year-old Keys was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. The cause of her car leaving the roadway remains unclear. Highway 140 remained open while officials worked at the scene.
As news of the fatal crash circulated, aid arrived from multiple venues. The Oregon State Police spearheaded the on-scene response with assistance from Lake County Search and Rescue and the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT). Statements from these teams have yet to provide any insight into the potential causes behind the incident.
