A Gwinnett County man faces multiple charges in connection with the death of 16-year-old Mia Campos, who was found dead last July 2024. FOX 5 Atlanta reports that a grand jury has indicted 20-year-old Jesus Monroy on new charges, including statutory rape, child molestation, and enticing a child for indecent purposes, as well as three counts of making false statements.

Monroy was previously accused of malice murder, felony murder, feticide, and aggravated assault related to Campos' death. Her body was found in a wooded area near her Loganville home. The Gwinnett County District Attorney's Special Victims Unit informed 11Alive that new evidence has emerged, leading to additional charges against Monroy.

Monroy had been granted bond in August, but after the new indictment, he was taken back into custody. Campos' father, Eduardo, stated in a past interview with 11Alive, "If he’s guilty, I’m gonna make sure that he’s guilty."

Monroy's next court date has not been announced, but officials and family members continue to pursue the case. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Gwinnett County Police at 770-513-5300 or Crime Stoppers at 404-577-TIPS (8477).
