
Yesterday morning, a Gwinnett County Police officer struck a pedestrian with their patrol car. The collision occurred on Beaver Ruin Road near Interstate 85 just before 1:00 a.m. The officer was driving east when the pedestrian unexpectedly entered the roadway outside the designated crosswalk.
According to the Gwinett County release, officers and Gwinnett County Fire Services paramedics responded to provide emergency aid to the pedestrian, but despite their efforts, the pedestrian later died from their injuries. The Georgia State Patrol took over the investigation, with assistance from the Gwinnett County Police Accident Investigation Unit.
Following the investigation, local traffic on Beaver Ruin Road resumed, but the Georgia State Patrol continues its inquiry into the accident. More details will be shared as they become available, and the pedestrian’s identity is being withheld until family members are notified.
