The Hawai‘i Department of Transportation has announced virtual public meetings to gather feedback on updates to the Regional Long-Range Land Transportation Plans for Kaua‘i and Hawai‘i Island. These plans were last updated in July 2014 and need revision to meet the state's changing population, development, and transportation needs, according to the Hawai‘i Department of Transportation.
The plans are part of the larger "Statewide Long Range Land Transportation Plan" and contribute to the "Hawai‘i Statewide Transportation Plan." These documents guide the future development of Hawai‘i's transportation system, focusing on efficient movement of people and goods. The updates for Kaua‘i and Hawai‘i Island are key in shaping investment strategies and policies to meet the state's long-term transportation needs, as reported by the Hawai‘i Department of Transportation.
The Hawai‘i Department of Transportation is holding virtual meetings via Microsoft Teams to gather public input on transportation. Kaua‘i meetings are on February 25, from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m., and February 27, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Hawai‘i Island meetings will be on March 5, from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m., and March 6, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. An online survey will also be available. Requests for auxiliary aids or language interpretation should be made to the Hawai‘i Department of Transportation Public Affairs Office at least two weeks before the meetings.
