The Hawai‘i Police Department is extending an open invitation to the Hilo community for a "Meet & Greet" event with their community policing officers. This gathering is an opportunity for residents of downtown Hilo to come together with their local officers, including both newly promoted and current members of the team, in a bid to foster better relationships and discuss safety and enjoyment in the area, according to the Hawaii Police Department.
The meet-up will be held on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Mokupapapa Discovery Center, 76 Kamehameha Avenue, Hilo. Officers will discuss their efforts to improve downtown Hilo and listen to community ideas on how to work together to make the neighborhood safer and more enjoyable for everyone, as reported by the Hawaii Police Department.
For more information about this event, contact Hilo Community Policing Lieutenant William Derr at (808) 961-2350. The Hawaii Police Department's effort aims to strengthen communication and shared responsibility between law enforcement and the community.
