A suspect is now in custody in connection to the fatal shooting of a juvenile female that occurred on Tuesday in the early hours at 1114 Gulf Bank Road. Eighteen-year-old Lewis Orlando Tejada faces charges of tampering with physical evidence, as stated by the 495th State District Court, as reported by the Houston Police Department.
A 16-year-old girl was found unresponsive with a fatal gunshot wound in the passenger seat of a car stopped in the middle of the street around 3 a.m. in Houston. Houston Police discovered the scene, and paramedics pronounced her dead upon arrival. Three males—aged 20, 18 (including Tejada), and 17—were also in the vehicle but were uninjured. The Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences has yet to release the victim's identity, pending family notification, while the circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear, as stated by the Houston Police Department.
The Houston Police Department is investigating a shooting where "the circumstances regarding the shooting were not determined at that time," according to the Houston Police Department Homicide Division Sergeant K. Meek and Detective A. Hernandez. Evidence linked Tejada to the removal of the weapon from the scene, leading to his charge after coordination with the Harris County District Attorney's Office. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities ask anyone with information to contact the Houston Police Department Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or provide anonymous tips to Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
